"The Annunciation of the Messiah"

I can remember when people used to say, “One day my ship will come in.” They were referring to hopes of better times coming. This morning I want to talk about a gift’s arrival: a blessing from God.

The prophets of old talked about the coming Messiah, the Christ-child who would come and save mankind. Let me tell you about the arch angel, Gabriel, who was sent to Galilee in Israel. Often times, God sends angels and messengers to us, but so many times we are not at home. I’ve got good news! The Lord is with you. If you’ve been born again and are a follower of Christ, you are highly favored.

When Mary saw Gabriel – who came in the form of a man – she was troubled by the message he brought. He told her that she was going to have a baby, but not only was she unmarried, she was also a virgin. A Virgin! Gabriel comforted her and told her not to be afraid because God had found favor with her. The angel reminded Mary that she was a chosen vessel. She would have a baby, whom she would name Jesus, and He would be great and would reign over the house of Jacob forever. Jesus’ kingdom would have no end.

I don’t know what you were expecting for Christmas, but even in the midst of this pandemic and health issues, God is still in the blessing business. He is blessing us right now. He is the gift that keeps on blessing.

Your ship has come in. Your blessing has already come. He allowed you to be born. He has provided for you and kept you from dangers seen and unseen. He kept the death angel away. If that’s not a blessing from God, then I don't know what is. You didn’t have to wait for Christmas to receive His blessings. Because the greatest gift ever wasn’t placed under the tree, He was placed on the tree...just for you!
