DESCRIPTION:
Luke, focusing on the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, wrote how on the cross at Calvary, Jesus hanged between two criminals. Dismas hanged on His right side and Gestes on His left. The thief, Dismas, asked Jesus not to forget him when Christ would come into His kingdom. Understanding the nature of Jesus’ kingdom, Dismas believed Jesus had full power and the ability to bless him with forgiveness and grace. However, Gestes taunted Christ and believed He had no power.

Dismas understood and admitted his punishment was deserved and that Jesus was innocent. It seemed that this thief not only believed that Jesus was King of the Jews, but was King of Kings. If Jesus could move from the cross to a throne, there was no way He would not ask for a royal pardon for Dismas, who asked forgiveness. Pardon is God’s free cancelling of our sinful debt, entirely.
It removes our guilt and restores our relationship with the Lord.
