DESCRIPTION:

Matthew tells us that Jesus and His disciples got in their boat to cross the lake. Suddenly a storm came and the waves covered the boat. The disciples weren’t prepared. Sometimes, because we take things for granted, we are not dressed or ready for the storms that come into our lives.

Jesus was sleeping because His human body was tired and weary. The disciples were terrified and they woke Him. They knew Jesus had power to speak to the storm. These experienced fishermen were good swimmers. They were accustomed to rough weather. But at this moment, their skills on the water failed them. “Lord, we’re going to drown!” they called.

This reminds me that we are in danger of perishing. We need to have confidence in Jesus and need to go to Jesus because He saves.
