Paul’s goal was to encourage the church and know the mystery of God which is Christ. Just as we receive Christ Jesus, let’s continue to live our lives through Him. In Christ, all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form. In Him, we have been brought to fullness. We were raised in Him through our faith in God who raised Him from the dead. Paul speaks of freedom through human rules. He admonishes not to let anyone who delights in false humility, disqualify us.

Paul is commanding us to set our minds on things above. Be focused. To do that, we’ve got to believe on Spiritual things. Wisdom from above is pure, gentle, open to reason, and full of mercy. We are to give our time and attention to things that are pleasing to God. Songs our ancestors, about life and death, cause us to look up and cheer one another onward.
