ABOUT THE BOOK OF GENESIS:
Genesis—the beginning—is the first book of the Bible believed to be written by Moses who wrote the Pentateuch. They were written during the 40 years of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness.
MESSAGE:
Jacob had a dream. He fled his home in Canaan to the wilderness, where God does his best work. It was nighttime. While sleeping, Jacob saw a structure that appeared to connect earth to heaven. A stairway. A staircase. A ladder. It reached from the mountainside to heaven. It gave Jacob the notion that heaven and earth are united. The angels of God were ascending and descending on the stairs. Some say the angels were carrying the prayers of men up the stairs while others brought down comfort and blessings. This story teaches us that God Himself built a gateway to heaven on which He and His angels travel. In the dream, the Lord stood by Jacob reminding him that He was there with him.
When we reach rock bottom, when we can’t see ourselves through, we can go up the down staircase. Sometimes we must be down for the Lord to stand by us. We must keep climbing, for every rung goes higher and higher. The first step may be the hardest, but don’t become defeated. Keep pressing. Keep lifting Jesus. Wake up from your dream and praise God for He has a staircase for you.
